Only a very selected number of Hungarian drivers have the opportunity to see what was experiences by the field of the Hankook RCM Cup last weekend. The young Hungarian one-make series was the support event of the FIA World Touring Car Championship on the Hungaroring, where all races were run in incredible atmosphere created by the fanatic Michelisz fans.

Bálint Hatvani (Zsille Motorsport) got back a part of what was taken from him last weekend on the season opener. Or more precisely he took it back, as he grabbed his much earned first victory with hard labour. Last week he lost first place due to a silly mistake: he forgot to put on his fireproof underwear and was subsequently disqualified. This time, however, he did a perfect race leading from light to flag, although the finish was quite tight.

Gábor Tim (Apex Racing) crossed the line in second position, after chasing defending champion Dániel Nagy (RCM Motorsport) for ten laps, and finally overtaking him in turn one. Dani thus finished third in front of Ákot Takáts (Zsille) and Attila Tassi (RCM). László Csuti lost two places to end up sixth.

Race one proved the wonderful atmosphere among the RCM Cup teams. Tassi seriously crashed his car during the qualifying practice, and he would be unable to start the race. However, Apex Racing offered him the car of Zoltán Lévai, who could not join the field on Saturday due to off-track appointments. As for Sunday, Zsille Motorsport brought a spare car from Kaposvár to the Hungaroring for the young gun.

The Gentleman Cup was once again won by Gábor Kismarty (Zengő Motorsport), and his teammate Bence Pusztay finished first among the rookies.

The whole situation changed for Sunday as heavy rain hit the Hungaroring and the second race was run on wet track. The cooler air meant better engine performance, but the slippery track demanded increased caution.

Due to the reversed grid Gábor Kismarty and Witold Elekfy (RCM) started from pole, however, it did not take long for the big-four to find their way to the lead through the field. Gábor Tim seemed irresistible on wet, and he won race two with a seven seconds margin. Hatvani finished second, concluding a very successful weekend, while Nagy crossed the line in P3.

Takáts left the Hungaroring with two strong fourth position, and Csuti came home in P5 this time. Kismarty tried his best to remain close to the front runners, and finally finished sixth in front of drivers like Attila Tassi and Zoltán Lévai, meaning he did the double in the Gentleman Cup. Gábor Forrai (Apex) took his revenge on Pusztay by winning the rookie cup.

After two rounds Gábor Tim is leading the classification by 13 points in front of Dani Nagy. Hatvani is third 29 points adrift followed by László Csuti, Attila Tassi and Witold Elekfy.

Gábor Kismarty leads the Gentleman Cup in front of Zsolt Schiller, while Gábor Forrai is the best of the rookies, leading Bence Pusztay by 10 points.

There is no rest for the Hankook RCM Cup field, the championship goes to Slovakia to race alongside WTCC once again next week.
