There are only three Hungarian drivers who have had the opportunity to race in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, and one of them will be the guest of the Hankook RCM Cup race on the Slovakiaring late August. Norbert Nagy entered the Spa-Francorchamps WTCC round driving a Campos Racing TC2T SEAT León and he did a decent debut, being close to regular WTCC racer John Filippi.

However, the FIA ETCC remains the main object for the 20 years old driver this season, where he competes in a normally aspirated two liter Chevrolet Cruze in the S2000 category. Norbi missed the last two rounds (he had technical issues before Salzburg, and he was in WTCC field in Spa), but he is focused to do well in the final weekend held in Sicily. His guest start in RCM Cup is part of his preparation.

“It is an honor for me to have this opportunity to try myself in this young, bur very professionally organized one-make series. Every kilometers spent in racing will be a great asset for me before Pergusa, as I have not had an opportunity to drive since Spa. On the other hand, there are several experienced drivers in RCM Cup, and I am ready to learn from them as much as possible. It will be good to fight with the most talented Hungarian youngsters like Dani Nagy, Gabi Tim, Bálint Hatvani and the others” – said Norbi.

The Slovakiaring event will be the first time Nagy drives the 1.5 liter RCM Swift Racer, and although having a much stronger car in ETCC, he sees this opportunity as a challenge.

“This is a small car with a bit more than 100 BHP, however, because of the lack of power it punishes the slightest mistakes. You have to drive this car very precisely, because any time you lose speed it takes ages to get it back. I believe the more cars I drive the better, as it helps getting used to different types more quickly.”Despite having almost two years of experience racing in international series, Norbi cannot expect an easy ride in Slovakia. RCM Cup involves the best Hungarian talents, and they know the car much better than Nagy. The fight for the title cannot be hotter so his opponents will be super motivated.

Beside Nagy the leadership of RCM Cup is also delighted to greet such a talented and experienced driver in the field.

“I am very happy that Norbi and his team accepted our invitation to the Slovakiaring event. It has been our aim to have the best Hungarian talents in our championship since the beginning, and he is inevitably one of them. We wish him a successful weekend in Slovakia, and also in Pergusa with the ETCC field” – said László Csuti, promoter of RCM Cup.

The penultimate round of the Hankook RCM Cup will be held between 23rd and 24th August on the Slovakiaring. The pack will be stronger than ever, as beside Norbi Nagy the Moriens also join in, and other new entrants are expected.
