Championship leader Gábor Tim won the second Hankook RCM Cup race on the Slovakiaring, and beside his Apex Racing team he could be very grateful to Attila Tassi. The teenager talent from RCM Motorsport finished second ahead of Tim’s championship rival Bálint Hatvani (Zsille Motorsport) stealing valuable point from him. Altogether Tim could increase his lead in the overall in the weekend.

Due to the reverse grid rule Ronald Morien (Zsille) started from pole position, however after a few minutes his son, Mike was leading the pack, while his father gave his all to defend him from the chasers. He managed to keep them in the bay for a few laps, but finally Gábor Tim and Attila Tassi found way around the Dutchmen. Tim did an impressive charge from P7 to the lead in a bit more than 10 minutes.

Hatvani tried to follow his rival, and although it took more time for him to go through the field, he could take his place behind Tim before the final stage. However, Tassi had the final word in this battle, as he regained P2 from Hatvani, and scored his third podium of the season. Dutchman Niels Langefeld (Zsille) finished fourth after he made mistake in changing gears and he felt his engine lost power afterwards.

Suzuki veteran Witold Elekfy (RCM) had a wonderful race as he fought hard to be in the top group all the time. He even took P3 temporarily and finished fifth. WTCC and ETCC contender Norbert Nagy was more confident with the RCM Swift Racer in the second run which was rewarded by a sixth place in front of Mika Morien.

With his victory and the second place of Tassi championship leader Gábor Tim could increase his advantage to 21 point ahead of Hatvani. There is only one round left of the season, however three races will be held on the Hungaroring, and a hefty 75 points will still be on the table.

Gábor Kismarty-Lechner has already won the Gentleman Cup as he finished first in all but two races so far in the category. In the Rookie Cup the situation is still not settled between Gábor Forrai (Apex) and Bence Pusztay (Zengő), however it is still unsure whether the latter could go to the Hungaroring event.

The final round of the Hankook RCM Cup will be held on the Hungaroring between 11th and 12th of October.                                  PHOTOS HERE!
