The last round of the 2014 season brought together the largest ever field in the short history of the Hankook RCM Cup as no less than 17 1.5 engined RCM Swift Racers will line on the grid in free weeks’ time. Moreover most of the newcomers are seriously considering a long-term campaign in the championship, and a few of them have already had plans for 2015.

The best know person joining the field for the season finale (10th-12th October) is inevitably Zoltán Bárkovics. The driver usually referred to as Bárkó in the Hungarian paddock was the champion of Suzuki Cup in 2012 with RCM Motorsport, and only finished third last season behind Dániel Nagy and Attila Tassi because he was forced to miss one of the rounds in the early parts of the year.

Bárkovics is one of the most experienced Hungarian one-make series drivers more than capable of blistering speed and consistently high performance. Before being crowned as a Suzuki champion he finished second twice in the series, first behind Ferenc Ficza jr. and then following Gábor Tim. Beside his successful campaigns in Hungary he showed up on the international scene as well, entering three SEAT León Eurocup rounds in 2009 with Zsille Motorsport. He scored two points in Italy finishing twice in P8.Unfortunately he was unable to register for the whole season this year, although he really wanted to continue racing. He cannot miss however the last round of the season so he entered on a one-race basis with his former team RCM Motorsport. This could present him a good opportunity to fight once again with previous rivals like Gábor Tim and Attila Tassi.

Autosport is a familiar world for Márk Somogyi, who also makes his debut in the championship on the Hungaroring. Born in Pásztó but now living in Budapest he comes from the Hungarian Rally Sprint championship where he scored his very first victory recently. Being the son of Pál Somogyi, co-driver of former Hungarian rally champions like Balázs Benik and Tamás Turi, driving fast is the basic mindset for Márk.Following American-Hungarian Annamária Abari another young lady tires herself in the new Hungarian one-make series. Vivien Miss has a few tests with the RCM Swift Racer under her belt, but this is going to be her very first race with racecar. Previously she entered numerous kart events and has a plan to compete full season next year in RCM Cup.

And last but not least Gábor György will also make his debut with the 1.5 Swift on the second weekend of October. So far he was known in the Hungarian paddock as a racing dad, for his daughter Anett György is driving his second season in the Lotus Ladies Cup. This year she stood on the podium three times and is forth in the overall with two races to go. The Hungaroring event will be a nice opportunity for father and daughter to drive in the same event, as the lotus ladies will also be part of the Hungarian season finale.

Balázs Takács also returns to RCM Cup with Zsille Motorsport. He made his debut in the very first round of the season, but did not show up for recent races. Funnily Balázs was an “arch rival” of Gábor György in karting so this encounter will be something of a rematch between them.
