The brand new Hankook RCM Cup concluded an absolutely successful first season this year, authorizing it’s organizers to embark on 2015 with increased confidence. The number of entries grew continually; 19 cars lined up for the season finale on the Hungaroring, and the title fight went down to the wire between Gábor Tim and Bálint Hatvani. And without the unfortunate absence of reigning champion Dánien Nagy from the last rounds it could have been a nail-biting three-strong battle with many variables.

2014 however was only the beginning, as RCM Motorsport, the organizer of the series has long-term and very serious plans with the championship, and the work on 2015 has already started. Being a winning model it is not necessary to turn RCM Cup upside down, however there are areas where minor modifications can further enhance the series. We talked about these plans with László Csuti, promoter of RCM Cup.

The field:
“Our future looks very bright as far as the 2015 field is concerned. Although it is only November at the moment, I can almost confirm a 19-strong permanent field for next season, while we are also planning to build a few more RCM Swift Racers to meet the demand. 19 cars are far from full-house so we are still looking for Hungarian and foreigner drivers who want to compete in an affordable and professional one-make championship.”

“There will be minor changes in the sub-categories. We are planning to introduce the RCM Ladies Trophy as until now four female drivers have already enrolled for 2015. We are also considering a team’s championship.”

Teams:
“Due to our successful inaugural season more Hungarian teams have decided to join us next year. Beside the current squads – Apex Racing, RCM Motorsport, Zsille Motorsport – Proex Sport and a team headed by Gábor György will also field cars in our championship while WTCC team boss Zoltán Zengő also plans to form a junior team for Hungarian talents. There are other Hungarian teams in the frame.”

Calendar:
“The most important modification is that we increase the number of rounds from six to seven. Negotiations are underway to once again be the support race of the FIA WTCC in Hungary and Slovakia, while we are pursuing our long desire to have a round in Rijeka. It is also possible to hold a round on one of the Austrian tracks, and I hope to publish our full calendar at the end of January.”

The car:
“We are more than satisfied with the new-for-2014 1.5 liter RCM Swift Racer which concluded its first season without any major technical problem. Therefore no significant changes are required as we try to keep cost as low as possible. There will be minor optical developments and we are planning to improve the braking system according to the feedbacks for our drivers.”

The basis of the championship remains unchanged for 2015 – everyone will fight for the positions in professional environment and with reliable and leveled cars. Due to the unique permission from the Hungarian Federation the age limit of RCM Cup remains 12 years.
