One of the most successful teams of Hungarian one-make series racing, the multiple title-winner Proex Sport joins the Hankook RCM Cup field next season with a handful of 1.5 liter Swift Racers. With them the number of participating teams grows from three to five, while there are ongoing negotiations with other squads to join in after a very successful inaugural year. The complete lineup is yet to be announced as there a few vacant seats at the team.

Proex Sport led by Róbert Szabolcs was founded in 2002 and found its way to success very soon. The team leader finished in the top10 in the ultra-competitive 2005 Hungarian Renault Clio Cup season, while next year they lost in counting the various cups won by Proex drivers. The team was victorious in the Clio Cup with a super-talented youngster Norbert Kiss (recently won the Truck Racing European Championship), while Alfréd Szelényi and László Pápai finished second and third respectively in the Hungarian Suzuki Swift Cup.

I did not take long to win the title in the smaller one-make series too, Tibor Assenbrenner was crowned Suzuki-champion in 2008. Beside titles Proex Sport has been ultra-competitive with Suzukis, having a driver in the overall top3 almost every year since the launch of the series.

Such a well-established and strong team is a great asset for a young series like RCM Cup. Although 2014 has not been concluded yet we asked their team leader, Róbert Szabolcs about the next season.

“The 2015 diver lineup is yet to be confirmed so I cannot give the exact number of cars we will race next season. We are planning to have 3-4 RCM Swift Racers, and the negotiations are ongoing with drivers.”

“As far as our confirmed drivers are concerned it is 100% that Vivien Miss and Mark Somogyi will carry our colors in 2015. Both sampled RCM Cup this season in the championship finale and we are ready to help them improving their skills.”

We were also curious about the number of years Proex Sport is planning to spend in RCM Cup, and also about their goals for next season.

“Watching it as an outsider RCM Cup seems to be a well-established and well-organized championship, which is a very important point for us. All the necessary information arrives to the teams in time, which is also crucial. As long as they have a healthy grid and we feel our drivers can develop there we want to be part of it.”

“About our plans: it is difficult to say anything at the moment without knowing the exact line-up. As far as our current drivers are concerned we want them to learn as quickly as possible, and see them strong in the midfield soon.”

With Proex Sport RCM Cup can boast of an even stronger field next year as now almost all of the successful Hungarian one-make series teams will be part of the championship.
