Two-time Hungarian Suzuki champion remains in the Hankook RCM Cup for yet another season in an attempt to achieve something never done before in the history of the series: to retain his championship title.

The Hungarian talent will once again team up with Apex Racing, who helped him in his tight quest for the 2014 title which had only been won in the very last round. It was, however, not the first overall victory for Tim, who had already finished first in the 2011 Hungarian Suzuki Swift Cup season.

Tim was among the first drivers to join the newly created Hungarian Suzuki-based series, RCM Cup last year, where he clashed with great rivals like Dániel Nagy, Attila Tassi and the internationally seasoned Bálint Hatvani, who came out of inactivity after a few years. The Apex Racing driver turned out to be extremely consistent in 2014, finishing in the top2 in all but two races.

After being crowned RCM Cup champion on the legendary Hungaroring circuit he could participate in the 24 Hours of Dubai race which was the main prize for winning the series. After a formidable performance in the Arabian desert, he turned his attention to the new season. First he planned to switch to the F1600 category of the Hungarian Touring Car Championship, but after consulting his sponsors, he decided to do a title-defending year in RCM Cup.

“It would be such a great honor to be the first in nine-year history of the Hungarian Suzuki Cup, who can retain his title. I am not exaggerating when I say: I am more motivated now than any time before. I want to repay the help of my sponsors, my manager, my team and my family” – Tim said.

The lineup of Apex Racing remains unchanged for 2015, Tim once again teams up with Gábor Forrai, winner of the 2014 RCM Rookie Cup. They get on pretty well and in his second season Forrai might be of better help when it comes to slipstreaming. Both drivers have already started their preparation for the new season.

“I worked on the good old simulator quite a lot during the winter, using the new rFactor 2, which was a great asset in my preparation. We also did some real testing not long ago so I really feel well prepared for the season.”

Although being a title holder and a two times champion Tim approaches the new year with caution, as the 2015 RCM Cup field will be even stronger than the last one.

“Everyone is a possible threat who enters the races; you cannot look down on anyone. According to the previous season Dániel Nagy could be my greatest opponent, as Bálint Hatvani might be forced to miss some races. However, there are a lot of new and unknown drivers. Máté Benyó drove well in the Swift Cup Europe last year, so I have to keep an eye on him, just like on the guys from The Netherlands” – Tim concluded.

The 2015 Hankook RCM Cup season commences on the 25-26 April weekend on the Hungaroring.
