The 2015 Hankook RCM Cup season starts this weekend on the Hungaroring at the opener of the Hungarian Track Racing Championship. The teams have already completed their preparation for the new season at some crowded collective testing. Last Friday for instance no less than 17 RCM Swift Racers hit the Hungarian F1 circuit. This year’s field is full of experienced drivers with the likes of title holder Gábor Tim, 2013 Suzuki-champion Dániel Nagy and former WTCC and ETCC entrant Norbert Nagy.

They will be joined by the new breed of drivers, who will once again fight for the coveted Rookie of the Year title. Máté Benyó has already been introduced to the readers; now it is time to get acquainted with other Hungarian fresh mates.

Some of the 2015 rookie entrants have already sampled RCM Cup, but Dr. István Incze is not one of them; the weekend round on the Hungaroring will be his baptism of fire.

His love for fast cars stems back to his childhood, and he was a passionate F1 enthusiast too. The real breakthrough for him however came with a chance to watch a WTCC round of Norbert Michelisz from the Zengő Motorsport garage. It was there where he decided he wanted this experience for himself.

“This is going to be my very first year as racing driver, so I do not have serious expectations. However, I always expect the best from myself, so I want a decent result in my inaugural season. I would like to finish all races, in an acceptable position. At the end of the season I would be very satisfied with place in the middle of the pact” – Incze said.

He has all the humbleness in himself necessary for a successful debut season.

“Recently I was in position to drive fast cars on test tracks, and I realized how difficult it is to drive well. People tend to think more about themselves until they jump into a real racecar and realize there is a lot to learn.”In contrast Márk Somogyi already has some experience in RCM Cup after entering the season finale in 2014. He signed up with series newcomer Proex Racing for this year, and already completed a handful of testing days.

“This is the time for learning, and I have a lot to learn. Róbert Szabolcs and his team provide me a perfect background and I cannot praise them enough. I am a little bit problematic sometimes but they are ready to fulfill all my wishes immediately. For me I would be a great success if I could finish all races. It would also be nice to knock on the door of the top10, although the 2015 field seems to be very competitive” – Somogyi explained.Balázs Takács is the one with the most experience out of the three after entering two rounds last year. Nonetheless he was also accepted in the Rookie Cup.

“My preparation was much better for this year than in 2014, but the field is stronger too, so we will see if it is enough. I would like to close the gap to the frontrunners. I tested on the EuroRing and also spent two days on the Hungaroring and felt some progress. I have to learn however a lot about driving on cold tires” – the Zille Motorsport driver told us.

Beside them two Dutch youngsters, Mika Morien and Heino Tijmen, will join the Rookie Cup, while B3 Racing also plans to enter two simulator gamers for this season. We will introduce them in due time.
