Differing from the ordinary schedule the qualifying practice was held on Friday afternoon at the fourth round of the Hankook RCM Cup season on the Pannóniaring and the results plastically proved why people tend to love one-make series. 18 RCM Swift Racers entered the first official session of the weekend, one less than originally expected as Balázs Takács was forced to sit out the round due to a minor injury. The popular Hungarian track produced a very tight 20 minutes qualifying with tiny differences at the front.

Pole position went to the newcomer George Racing Team thanks to their former champion driver Dániel Nagy, who scored the first pole of his squad. The team of Gábor György deserved this success more than anyone else as they were forced to work day and night after Anett György rolled one of their cars in testing. Her Swift could not be finished for the qualifying but she is expected start the races.

The victory of Nagy means that RCM Cup now had four different pole sitters in as many rounds this season: Hungaroring – Gábor Tim, Rijeka – Attila Tassi, Slovakiaring – Niels Langeveld, Pannóniaring – Dániel Nagy.

Former ETCC and WTCC driver Norbert Nagy also showed great form taking P2 in his RCM Motorsport car only one tenth of a second adrift from the pole. This is the best position he scored this year in qualifying. Championship leader Gábor Tim finished third but he already has more than half a second deficit to the Nagys. The title holder of Apex Racing admitted to be a little off the pace but added the eternal motorsport truth: points are given in races.

Attila Tassi (RCM) follows the big trio in P4, while the two returnees, Zoltán Bárkovics and Bálint Hatvani (both Zsille Motorsport) finished fifth and sixth respectively. Elekfy Witold, who jumped in very late, showed great performance by scoring P7 behind the former champions and title aspirants, while his fellow veteran László Csuti ended up eleventh.

It seems the very technical Pannóniaring meant extra challenge for the newcomers of B3 Racing, and they could not acclimatize to the track as quickly as usually. No reason to feel at shame tough, as Bence Boldizs finished P9 while Gergő Báldi scored P10. It is important to mention Mika Morien, as the young talent from The Netherlands was deprived of his lap time due to not respecting track limits, and the Zsille Motorsport driver will start race one from the penultimate grid position.
