Gábor Tim, the title holder and current championship leader of Hankook RCM Cup announced his withdrawal from the rest of the 2015 season with immediate effect a few days after the Pannóniaring event. The two times Suzuki champion still has a seven point lead in the overall in spite of a rather problematic weekend near Sárvár, however it is almost guaranteed that Dániel Nagy and the others will soon overtake him, which means Tim will be unable to achieve his 2015 goal: to became the first Suzuki-driver in Hungary who defends his title.

The Apex Racing racer started the 2015 season with strong performances; he went on winning the first three races and later consolidated his lead with two second places. Although finishing “only” fourth in the second race on the Slovakiaring he fought back with another podium place on the Pannóniaring (another P2).

The second race on the Western-Hungarian circuit however turned out to be a crucial moment of his season. Tim started from P7 and finished third, only to be relegated by a 20 second penalty for dangerous driving to eighth position.

Several incidents and frictions was reported between Tim, his management, his team and the leadership of Hankook RCM Cup in recent months which – combined with the latest events - lead to the decision to withdraw from the series despite leading the overall.

Gábor Tim entered the Hungarian Suzuki Cup in 2010 and immediately finished third, which was followed by his first title a year later. The 24-year-old driver did the double with the Swift in 2014 in RCM Cup, and completed the 2015 Dubai 24 hours race as the main prize for his title.

RCM Cup whishes all the best to Gábor Tim both on the track and in his personal life.
