In less the two months Hankook RCM Cup visits the Felvidék for the second time and the venue will once again be the Slovakiaring near Dióspatony. The track, that had a solid place in the FIA WTCC calendar in recent years, however is to see a race weekend that goes according to a very different playbook compared to the previous rounds. The big change is naturally the absence of title holder and overall leader Gábor Tim who decided to quit the series citing tensions between him and a leadership of the championship.

It means we unfortunately have to say goodbye to the nice rivalry between him and Dániel Nagy which was one of the most frequented talking points in series recently. Although the Apex Racing driver still holds a seven-point lead in the overall it is only a matter of time that he drops out of the top3.

With the withdrawal of Tim, Dániel Nagy stepped forward as the greatest favorite for the 2015 title and he holds a solid advantage to his closest opponents. The driver of the newcomer George Racing Team leads Mika Morien (Zsille Motorsport) by 45 point, has 51 points gap to Attila Tassi (RCM Motorsport) and 52 to Norbert Nagy (RCM). It will be very difficult to catch him in the remaining three weekends, and we do not risk much saying Nagy’s rivals will need a fair amount of luck as well.

The previous visit at the Slovakiaring (4th-5th June) was the only weekend in the 2015 RCM Cup season when neither Tim nor Nagy was able to climb onto the highest point of the podium. Both races were won by quest driver Niels Langeveld who jumped in to help Morien in slipstreaming. Well, the weekend was not stellar for the young Dutch talent, while Niels took it all.

Slipstreaming will once again have an enormous effect on the results. The 5922 meter long Slovakiaring is full of long straights, where a good tow could give drivers great speed difference in the less powerful RCM Swift Racers. In a typical Slovakian event the audience can enjoy multiple overtakes in each straight.

There will be minor changes in line-up. Veronika Vanyova will sit out her home event at George Racing Team and her seat will be taken by fellow Slovakian Ivan Lexa. Not much is known about the 32-year old driver but it is said he raced with karts recently, and this will be his debut with a racing car. We will know more after the weekend.

Here is the schedule of the Slovakiaring event. RCM Cup will not have a session on Sunday this time. All times are CET.
