Mika Morien managed to do it from P5 what he could not achieve from the pole position; he took his second victory in the Hankook RCM Cup on Saturday. The young Dutch talent finished fourth in race one after starting from P1, which guaranteed fifth position on the grid for the second run due to the reverse grid regulation. He was followed by his greatest rivals in the following order: Norbert Nagy, Attila Tassi and Dániel Nagy, and saw the brake-lights of Bence Boldizs, Niels Langeveld, Gergő Báldi and Máté Benyó at the start.

The race was run according to the usual scenario, the frontrunners of the championship fought hard to find their way to the lead in the first laps. Báldi managed to hold onto P1 for a while but he was overtaken by Nagy in lap 4. Mike Morien was not standing idle in the meanwhile he gave his best to stay on the heel of the championship leader.

They were followed by Langeveld and Báldi and the four remained close to each other until the flag. Knowing the only working strategy on the Slovakiaring all of them planned to make the decisive move in the final laps. Eventually Morien was the only one to succeed and he managed to grab the lead. His compatriot was a great asset for him as he tried to engage Nagy in the dying seconds.

Báldi finished fourth followed by Norbert Nagy, however the former WTCC guest driver was given a post-race 20 second penalty which he accepted admitting he made a mistake. P5 thus went to Máté Benyó who was followed by Anett György. The both of them scored their best ever results in RCM Cup.

Anett also got very close to secure the Ladies’ Trophy, she needs four points from the remaining rounds. Morien also has a formidable lead among the rookies; he has a 28 points advantage over Báldi. As far as the overall is concerned Nagy added seven points to his lead over Morien and he has a huge 52 points advantage now. Although Gábor Tim still stands in second position, it is only a matter of time that he will be overtaken by his former rivals. Fierce battle is expected for P3 in the championship as Norbi Nagy and Attila Tassi is separated by a mere four points and they can also have a shot for second position.

Two rounds and altogether five races are left to be run from the 2015 season; the next event will be held on the Hungaroring in three weeks’ time.
