Daniel Nagy secured the 2015 Hankook RCM Cup championship title after an excellent performance on the penultimate round at the Hungaroring; the George Racing Team driver won two races and finished second in the third one. If we add that he was fastest in the Saturday qualifying as well it indicates the superiority of Nagy at this extremely important weekend. The 17-year old driver became a two-time Hungarian Suzuki champion after winning the Swift Cup in 2013 for the first time with RCM Motorsport.

The weekend started out perfectly for Nagy, he won the qualifying with an almost forth tenth advantage over Attila Tassi and more than seven tenth over Gergő Báldi (B3 Racing). He managed to escape from his rivals at the start of race one and took advantage of their constant battles to win by a five-second margin in front of Báldi (who scored his best ever result) and Mika Morien (Zsille Motorsport).

Race two was run according to a very similar scenario with the “minor” difference that Nagy had to start from P8 due to the reverse grid regulation. It only took a handful of laps for him to fight his way into the lead, and once again the never ending tussles between Mika Morien, Niels Langeveld , Attila Tassi and Norbert Nagy (RCM) allowed him to build a 13-second advantage before the flag was dropped. His rivals finished the race in the above mentioned order.

Nagy started the last race of the weekend with a 66 points lead in the overall meaning he only had to finish third in order to secure the title on the Hungaroring. Eventually he took P2 as victory went to Tassi, who was fighting hard to finally stand on the top of the podium for the first time this season. This is a very well timed success for the teenager of RCM Motorsport, who is to make his debut in the SEAT León Eurocup next weekend. It was Bence Boldizs (B3) who completed the podium of race three.

“I have my second Hungarian championship title! It was an extraordinary weekend and it is difficult to find the words now. I am so thankful for the team that took me to this success. George Racing Team is not simply a team it became a family this year. It is quite an achievement that we won the title in the very first season of the squad” – Nagy said after race three.

The fight for the title is settled, however great battle is expected for the rest of the overall podium places. Morien built a 29-point advantage over Norbert Nagy which is a nice sum but not impossible to overturn. Tassi follows Nagy with a mere two-point deficit and mathematically Gergő Báldi can also reach P3. It has already been decided that Anett György won the Ladies’ Trophy but now it also settled the Mika Morien is the best rookie of the 2015 season after securing a 29-point lead on the Hungaroring in front of Báldi.

Intense battle can be expected in the Teams’ Trophy too, as George Racing Team has a seven point advantage over Zsille Motorsport and eight over RCM Motorsport. Altogether 20 points are yet to be taken.
