The refreshed car of the brand new RCM Cup one-make series has been unveiled at the Hungaroring during the final round of the Hungarian track racing championship.

As it was announced earlier the new-for-2014 series will be based on the venerable Suzuki Swift, which has been raced in Hungary for several years now. Although the car, well-known for its low running costs, goes through significant changes.

“The current financial crisis greatly affects almost everyone involved in motorsport, therefore it is important for us to adjust the costs to the present conditions. Everyone wants to go on racing in a one-make cup with 400 HP luxury cars, but the reality is different these days” - said László Csuti, promoter of RCM Cup.

As far as the approximate costs are concerned, RCM Cup is to be a little cheaper compared to the previous Hungarian Suzuki-based series. The technical refreshment of the car requires minimal expenditure from the teams.

“Besides being affordable our second cornerstone is to present high-standard and professional environment to our partners. Motorsport is not only dangerous but also expensive, and we are committed to let our drivers enjoy the experience of racing in professional and relieved atmosphere for their money” - added Csuti.

The most frequently asked question during the unveiling pointed at the technical upgrades carried out on the Suzuki Swift. As promised earlier RCM Motorsport did not stop at visual modifications.

"The most important upgrade is hidden by the bonnet. We replaced the previously used 1.3 liter engine with a 1.5 liter one, resulting an approximately 20-25 HP increase in power. In connection with the engine change the front axle-track has been widened. We also implemented optical upgrades to make the car look more aggressive.”

Facelift includes a brand new front and rear bumper from the Sport version of the Swift, a larger rear wing and an  air-intake on the roof.

Hankook was announced as the official tire partner of RCM Cup. The new cars will be equipped with a “grooved slick” sport tire.

The organizers plan at least two rounds when the RCM Cup will be the support race of the World Touring Car Championship, a number that can grow in the following years. Beside the main championship there will be separate trophies for rookie and gentleman drivers.

The exact regulations and the 2014 calendar are to be published during the following months.
